i just went thru that chad. i was up till 2.30 the night my new s-craft arrived. i put two coats of wax on before i did anything. then i applied clear protective tape to the areas that get slammed with sand and gravel. then i started the build. k came down and said, 'i thought you'd be further along then that.'

it took a long enjoyable time.

I should be building come tomorrow morning at the 'stone. The frame/fork has been living in the living room for about a month, the wheels for a week. Zana's come to the realization that new clean bike parts live in the house so I can pick them up, caress them, squeeze them... As much as I like that I can't wait to have it dirty, living in the garage!

Oh, Chad, that looks very nice. Is it Mango? maybe you kid pick up an old Manitou xvert double crown to match!

mw ... sounds really similiar to my routine. i stopped after one coat because i was getting too eager. Got the frame around noon....threw a coat of wax on and fondled the frame for nearly two hours before i started building it..threw it in the stand around 2pm and finished around 8-9 pm. And i had it easy...no wheels to build and the brakes were already trimmed and bled. What in the hell took me so long ? Oh yeah...it went something like this...grease BB , thread in cups...sit on bench and finish beer. Install headset cups...sit on bench and finish beer. :)

So Ganz...you opening the Stone in the morning ? I could almost see you waiting outside ten minutes before the doors open, beaming of excitement.

xvert...that's funny !

The color in person actually seems brown in low light, and then in the sun it seems to have an orange tint.

Yep. I'll be there bright eyed, assuming a box of parts arrives there today. I'm hoping I can get some time in at Hall for a bit of an acid test after, but we'll see if it's ok with the weather they've been getting.

Can't wait to see that paint job!

Debaser, don't get too excited about that test ride at Hall unless you want to take a powerhose to your bike after it's first 15 minutes of fame.

Hey Chaybo - that bike is sweet! Before I even read anything I clicked on the picture and saw the dirty shifters and the 747 pedals. I knew who that ride is for! Let's see some full bike pics. Time for more Friday porn. Is that a new Salt or an X5?

OK, salty, nevermind that last question.

Your build process sounds much like mine, only I start later and go into the wee hours of the morning. Does the new Salt ride any differently?

then you just have to sit back and look at what you created (after all that building and drinking). the new bike has arrived and the waiting is over. now we just need the weather to coop. at least for the dirt. but i already have the first gravel hundy on my new ride!!!

wuz up davey -dave ??

Dude i've still got goose bumps over her!! XT pods and 747 pedals and you guess mine !! that's cool. Guess you know me purdy good ... eh ? Take a guess on the cassette ?

The frame is an 05' Salty...the geometry has been tweaked a little this year and i ordered it up with 5" rockers and an rp3 with the three way toggle switched wide open to cush mode.. my first ride reaction on it was WHHOOOAAAA. The fork is the Nixon Super W/ TPC..none of that SPV stuff, and it is so friggin plush. It goes from get this 25mm of travel up to 140mm via that crazy cable going to the handlebar.

want more pictures ?? Do you mind ??

Mango that's kinda what i'm seeing in this pic. Chaybo emailed me one that made it look more brown yesterday. It's been a long time since I've built up a new bike for myself. I have been settling for new parts here and there. I can't wait to build up a new bike!

I second the request for more bike pictures chaybo!

This bike screams "it's all about keepin' your momentum". The mango ate your baby.

A bike like that screams, "Point it straight and hold on!"

Magic, that's some funny shit you're typing over there.
