Back From China

I was in China for 2 weeks on a business trip. We visited a lot of manufacturing facilities and traveled to a few different cities (Shanghai, Souzhou, Qingdao, and Anshan). Things are definitely different over there.
View from hotel in Anshan. The high for the day was about -14.

This is a view from the Bunn in Shanghai. I heard someone say that every 23 days another building is finished that has more than 20 stories, and it has been that way for 10 years. Looking around Shanghai, I believe it. There is nothing but tall buildings in every direction. It was too foggy to see the top of the Jin Mao building (slightly shorter than the Sear's Tower) and the World Financial Center (under construction but will be the 3rd tallest building later this year).

These lovely ladies were playing in the lobby of our Shanghai hotel.

B.K., I found a new truck for you. This thing looked like it was being pulled by a garden tiller. There were a few of them driving around.

Qingdao is the home ofTsing Tao beer. We had fresh beer less than 2 hours old during dinner 2 blocks away from the brewery. Beer definitely closes the communication gap.

Stranahan's

I headed to Denver to meet up with Dave Nice at Stranahan's to pick up a few bottles of Colorado's finest whiskey, and got the nickle tour. Damn, this place was cool. Smelled freaking delicious, impressive stills, a huge room filled with barrels of whiskey aging quietly. If you haven't had a sip, find some. Oh, and if you don't know Dave, read the fine print, he's in he know. Nice-est guy you'll meet!

Night Ride

I finally hit up the Redstone Tuesday Night Ride again. Helps that they came down my direction for some Marshall Mesa action.

I havn’t ridden much at all during the week in the last 4-5 months, and havn’t ridden at night in something like a year. It really hit the spot. It was cold, windy, icy in spots, and a ton of fun.

night ride

with shrekie himself over at Lost Trail ski area. It was a bitch and a half to make it to the top following a beginner run, but after a couple of lengthy pushes we made it up only to look over the edge of abyss for some puckering downhilling on the fat tired bikes. Followed up the ride with a beer, some crown royal and a nice fire offered to us by some folks camping out to ski the next day.
