Hope everyone else had a good weekend outdoors. I got out through wilderness on Saturday with the wolfman no pics this time but the park will be in prime shape for picture taking soon. So many subtle color changes already and the leaves have already began to fall.

Sunday picked the wolfman up bright and early on Sunday. Destination Le Platte River for the bacon ride. I brought the SS and i was having and awesome ride 3/4 of my through my second lap i was thinking to myself what a great ride looks like i'm going to finish this on up strong and earn a couple extra strips of bacon. BAM i'm instantly pulled back into reality when i hit the ground hard my side was on fire! I'm not sure if i got bucked by the rigid fork or if i rode up onto the side of the singletrack and the trail gave way underneath my tire. At any rate I was going down one of the fast little down and up sections on the roller coaster toward the end so i had some speed at the time. Wow it happened quick. I have a nice 8 inch wide scrap starting at my armpit and ending mid thigh everything is tender and i'm eating advil like candy! Fuck it gotta get all healed up so i can go and ride that shit again. It's so dang good!

Ate some good breakfast buffet and watched some of the good video MOD took of the ride. My navigator for the ride back(wolfman) bailed on me to ride bikes back home with mw. I have to admit i was rather jealous. After we ate and talked it was still only a little bit after 10 o'clock in the AM so i decided to take the long way home with hopes of crossing the path of mw and the wolfman. I stopped for a couple of quick picks of the good minimum maintenance roads and was lucky enough to catch them before they got to deep into the mopac goodness. They looked good for the 30 mph wind that was blowing.

Good ride fellas wish i could have been on it!

bring it on m-f-er!

no seriously, the more the merrier in the SS class. once it gets big enough then we can separate the experts from the sports. but i don't see that happening soon. show up to a race on an SS and you still get crazy looks from most folks.

personally i'm torn on what to do next year. race SS in the masters expert class? maybe, but SS is fucking hard on some courses and survival mode isn't that fun for more then a lap. but the sport length seems short sometimes...

i think all you guys who have yet to dive into SS should try it, especially for racing. i think it is the only way for me to be competitive, because it forces you to do certain things, like carry momentum and climb like a man possessed. until you're walking that is.

Has choosing the right (or wrong) gearing come into it?

it certainly was a factor this weekend. up until then i was always the lowest geared. and that was to my advantage because i could outclimb everyone. well not at caves. the winner had a much faster gear and it paid off on the flats and decents where my gear was useless and there wasn't enough climbing for me to make up the difference. dammit.
