I borrowed this picture from HERE. I go in search of it about once every two weeks. If i post it here i won't have to go lookin for it anymore. Anybody have an opinion on this bike or company?
It's a great looking bike, that's for sure. Would you like it? Oh yeah, and so would I. I hear there's a new Gunnar dealer around, maybe you should talk to him!
The gunnar is tiged i think. Gunnar dealers JRA, Chaybo got anything on that? The Gunnar website listed the Rockhound stock size at $750 and $1075 for custom geo and a $125 up charge for Waterford quality paint. The Waterford site didn't have any pricing listed which leads me to beleive that its going after more of the custom high zoot stuff. lugged frames and the like. I wonder how the gunnar rides compared to lower priced frame? It seems like there are so many options now!
I was downtown at lunch today and thought i would say hi to the boys at the MWC and guess what they are building up a Gunnar Ruffian for a customer. The fork that comes with the frame stock is a vicious cycles rigid. It's not $750 retail for frame and fork is it? I really like the looks of the vicious frames and forks also!
yes-sir...the gunnars are tig'd . And damn nice work they do for the ching-ching. Essentially what they did was create a mid-line product that wouldn't or could not diminish the name brand or value of the Waterford line. Presto-enters Gunnar, a high to middle end product at the medium end price range ($600-$750 for stock sizes, and close to $1000-$1200 for custom sized and/or colored stuff)
the welds are pro, the paint is done inhouse and superprofessional...hell, they've got a few folks in the paintshop that have been with Schwinn for 25 plus years. That's dope. The customer support is spot on and they are ALL personable and knowledgable.
The OS2 (true temper OX)tubing seems to be pretty damn good...the shit is durable, and for the few Gunnars that i've built the frames have been fairly light too. A 56cm SPort with Centaur group that weighed 20 lbs, and a cross hairs with 105 that weighed just a tad bit more. Can't scoff at that.

a Tom Jones tune instantly popped up into my head
That bike is damn pretty! Waterford = good stuff. I met Richard Schwinn a few years ago - that man is a real kook (in a good way). Thumbs up for sure!
I concur with Redstone on that. Richard Schwinn is a good guy, and I have a lot of respect for their work.
