Singletrack is not great for trains

Singletrack is great for bikes. The wifey and I made a 3 day weekend starting on Friday, starting with two days in the snow followed by one day in the dirt. Temps were mid 20's to mid 40's depending on the day, which was superb compared to highs in the teens at home. Not bad for a one tank of gas sort of trip.

i've got a sweet coffee table book of steam engine boiler explosions. even if you aren't headed for a collision your boiler might just spontaneously blow up!

I'd love to see that book! This was a cool little train route, the Midland. Lots of places where the trestles had washed out and singletrack was built to get through the gullies. It's in Buena Vista, cd.
