ej25

uh yeah. i've overheated the forester a few times. this particular engine, the type1 ej25 is notorious for blowing headgaskets. so i'm treating myself to some new ones. before i destroy the block and heads. heads are warped and will get machined flat. new gaskets and head bolts. they were worried about a weird mark in the cylinder wall but they tested it and it's ok. can't wait to get it back and fixed.

i'm stoked it wasn't new cylinder block time... that would've been expensivo.

... not like this is turning out to be exactly cheap, but given the alternative, this is clearly the best case scenario.

Turbo ready?

no turbo this time around. i would want to use a engine that started life with a turbo on it. if these type1-ej25 motors weren't intended to be pressurized, then there's no way it would hold up since they have headgasket problems already...
i'll just have to find a junked xt with a good motor.

car is back. very clean at the moment. all fluid levels have been steady. mobile 1 is kicking and a fresh valve job is noticable.
