Hell-ooo 90's

i recieved a set of aluminum spokes and straight pull hubs from Jeff at I9 this week to try building up a set ourselves (so easy a caveman can do it). Bolt on rear axle, thru front axle. And then we had the rims sandblasted and powder coated white, called DT to get Orig decals and now we have.........a 90's flashback !

After talking to Bdiddy the other night, I think I know exactly who's those are.

Charge full price.

are those industry nine hubs and spokes?

debaser...don't go spoiling the party.

skinny d....yep, these are the industry nine spokes and hubs. The straight pull version with aluminum spokes. Later this month they'll be introducing their traditional flanged hubs for j style spokes. They're purdy sweet.

The less I see or hear of those the better.

They look class.

Are they going on a white frame and fork?

would you mind explaining more ganz ?

I seriously doubt you have anything concrete against these wheels other than the fact that you don't care for the LOOKS.

BUT, that's what makes the world grand GB....unique tastes and styles. To each his own. It's obvious where you stand....and it's probably purdy darn close to being on the same side of the fence as me. But in their own way...THESE WHEELS ROCK !!~! Try appreciating what it took to bring them into life. And only then young grasshopper will you see the light. And if you still don't appreciate them...well hell, you know i still love ya.

toons....black frame.

So how much does a wheelset like that go for?

Those wheels look fine, I guess, if you've got 3 metrosexuals color coordinating your life. Or if you've got a general lack of taste, you know, like magic does.

And whether they should or not, aluminum spokes sorta scare me, and Pullstar hubs are ugly.

Hey debaser, I have an old Pulstar front hub with an Araya rim laced to it. I will make you a special deal...

Aluminum spokes should have some limitation in fatigue, but the industry 9 spokes are THICK! I bet those are super stiff to ride. I like em'.

I'd rock a set if the spokes and hubs were pink

Chaybo said...

that can happen !

did you get your new frame yet ?

I think I9 is on to something. Mavic has been running aluminum spokes for a long time and they are more bombproof than I'd originally have though.

Basically, what I9 is doing is bringing a Crossmax setup (hub/spokes) to any rim a person wants.

Could you lace those up to an 819 Chaybo? That's the set up right there. I'd run it (in black, of course)

XM819...no problem. Black...sweet.

Those look great. Did you have them painted locally? What does the bike look like that they are going on? Same look?

Chaybo said...

thanks shawn.

we did use a local powder coater to blast and paint the rims for us. And they were super CHEAP too. I think bdidd and i will be bringing them a few older cruiser frames and an old raleigh this week to help with some additional projects. It's winter.....bring on the winter projects !

the bike that's recieving these wheels is waaaaaay out there. email me for pics.

dang, these wheels are a big deal huh? lots of comments.

Redstone- you should check out the webpage. These wheels are a whole new thing. They make spokes specially for each different rim. The spokes drop in throught the rim and thread into the hub. NO spoke nipples. They are sweet.

I talked to a few people at the keystone downhill race. One kid broke a three spokes next to eachother in whistler and the wheel still spun straight.

Sweet wheels man. Hope you dig them.

Since I beLIEve everything I read on the internet, there was that one picure of an imploded I9 front wheel, Rim intact, spokes blown into a million pieces, that sticks in my head.

Since I only ride bikepaths though, I could probably run 'em. I just need a properly blingy frame to hang 'em on.
